Parents of the WAA
This year there are going to be a lot of changes, hopefully for the good. There is a new board in place with 8 new faces. We will keep you informed on what is going on as we hammer this out. So if we have your e-mail address you will be receiving newsletters over the next few months. We also have a new web site and all the information will be on there also. We will hand out fliers at schools. Our first order of business was to hook up with Hickory Hills and Bedford Park. This we believe is what most wanted listening to all the complaints from last year. Next on the agenda is early bird sign ups, Nov. 16 @ 7 p.m. at the terrace center.The next issue is a HUGE PROBLEM: parent participation We have burned out board members because there are only a hand full of parents who step up to the plate. To them we say THANK YOU and to those who have slid by we say things are about to change. Now at sign up you will have to sign up for 2 participation items before we will take your child into the program.We are working on a point system rated from 1 to 5 and you will need to earn 5 participation points. The tasks and their point value will be posted on our web site as soon as we finalize them.
NEW FOR THIS SEASON: at registration you will need to bring 2 checks, one for PARTICIPATION ($100) which we will not cash.It will be stapled to your paper work and returned to you when your 5 points are earned. The second check will be for your raffle tickets and your child's fees. So your out of pocket will be less by $50 if you earn your 5 points. If not you lose a $100 when we cash your check at the end of the season. WE NEED HELP TO RUN THIS ORGANIZATION. WE NEED YOUR HELP! We value your opinions. This is Your organization.
